The future for the last remaining pub, The Old Oak in a village of the northeast England, where people are leaving the land as the mines are closed. Houses are cheap and available thus making it an ideal location for the Syrian refugees.
Ken Loach’s 2023 film The Old Oak was described by Time Out as “a film as fired up and human as any you’ll see this year”.
Our Wednesday Matinee Club shows films in a dementia-friendly and full accessible setting. This means that there are subtitles and there is an intermission.
The films are not just for those with dementia – as everyone is welcome to attend and enjoy.
Entry is £5 but this includes tea, coffee and biscuits. Carers can also attend the screenings for free.
