Price: ££4/ £2 (not including food and drink)

Distance: 4.5 miles
Start Time: 13.30
Duration: 3 hours
Difficulty: Moderate
Date: Saturday 7th September
Start Point: War Memorial, Westbury House Gardens BA15 1DE
Walk Cost: £4 / £2 (not incl. food & drinks)
Max. Number: 20

We’ll visit the Tithe Barn and other delights of Barton Farm before climbing Jones’ Hill out of BoA. Crossing a number of fields we can enjoy the views across to the Salisbury escarpment and beyond.

It’s then a short walk to Westwood Church and the Parish Rooms where we indulge in tea and cakes, the profits of which will go to support Amnesty International.

When replete we’ll walk through Westwood village to a viewpoint above the Avoncliff viaduct, down a stony track to the canal then back to town through the delightful River Avon water meadows (or along the canal if very wet).

Easy  – a mainly level, comfortably paced shorter walk (up to about 3 or 4 miles) with no stiles.
Moderate  – a longer, more challenging walk (up to about 7 miles), faster pace, with steps, steeper gradients and stiles.
Demanding – longer and more demanding than moderate, faster pace, requiring greater stamina; possibly more, steeper gradients. We would expect participants to be able to keep up with the pace set by the leader, it is a walk rather than an amble.

  • Walk duration times are a guide and the actual walks may be shorter or longer than advertised. The time stated is the length of time we will be out, including stops for refreshments and guided tours.
