Winner of the Royal Philharmonic Society’s Instrumentalist of the Year Award, Steven Osborne is one Britain’s most treasured musicians and is celebrated for his insightful interpretations and musicianship. Schubert’s penultimate piano sonata is one of his most enduring works and was written as part of a set of three sonatas that he wrote in 1828.
Rachmaninov’s Moments Musicaux Op 16, which were written in 1896 and inspired by Schubert’s works of the same name, are a set of concert pieces that imitate musical forms characteristic of previous times, including the nocturne, song without words, barcarolle, virtuoso étude and theme and variations.
