Rooster Talks: How to be a Green Traveller – with Richard Hammond

Price: £Free

The world has woken up to climate change yet we all still want to continue to go on holiday. In July’s special early evening Rooster Talk, Richard Hammond will look at how to do this in a way that’s kinder to the planet.

Richard will talk us through the carbon-conscious options, showing how being a green traveller is not just about camping or staying in luxury eco-hotels. New, faster and more comfortable rail and ferry services are making cross-continental travel easy and enjoyable, while many hotels and tour operators are improving their credentials and actively facilitating local conservation and community projects.

He’ll also show how it’s possible to make more sustainable choices at every stage of a holiday, from what to pack to how to travel out to the destination, and he’ll provide ideas for lots of fabulous green and gorgeous holidays in the UK, Europe and beyond.

Richard is an author and videographer whose media company Green Traveller specialises in shining a light on greener travel through words, photos, and film.
He is the former eco travel correspondent for the Guardian, author of Sawday’s Green Places to Stay and travel editor of National Geographic GREEN.

His book, The Green Traveller, has just been published by Pavilion Books and Richard will be signing copies after his talk. The excellent Mr B’s Emporium will be on hand if you’d like to purchase a signed copy on the evening.

Wild Herb at the Field Kitchen will be open until 6.30 pm, so you can enjoy July’s Rooster Talk with a drink and a light bite.
