Academy of Ancient Music at Iford Manor

Music for a Summer’s evening: the Academy of Ancient Music presents an enchanting sequence of works by Bach, Handel and Rameau, culminating in ‘Summer’ from Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons.

We are thrilled to welcome The Academy of Ancient Music to Iford. An orchestra with a worldwide reputation for excellence in baroque and classical music, AAM use historically-informed techniques, period-specific instruments and original sources to bring music vividly to life in committed, vibrant performances.

Led by award-winning baroque violinist Bojan Cicic, this evening of feel-good baroque classics will be constructed around a performance of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons. Expected programme below (note this is subject to change):

J.S. Bach – Orchestral Suite in D major BWV 1068 (strings only version)
Overture, Air, Gavotte I and II, Bouree, Gigue

G. F. Handel – Concerto Grosso op.6 no. 10 in D minor
Ouverture, Lento, Allegro, Allegro, Allegro moderato

J. P. Rameau – Pieces de clavecin en sextuour: IIIeme concert
La Popliniere; La Timide: 1er Rondeau, 2eme Rondeau; Premiere tambourin, 2eme tambourine en rondeau

Gates open: 17:30, Performance starts after 19:00, Finish by 21:00 to allow locals to walk home. Note that there will not be an interval during the performance.

Note that the concert takes place in the “Archery Ground” opposite Iford Manor. We are unable to host it in the garden due to social distancing.
