Duck Race Terms and Conditions

  • The organiser is Bradford on Avon Town Council
  • On Easter Monday, a race Control will be established in the town centre between 10.30 hours and 14.00 hours.
  • The promoter is: Bradford on Avon Town Council
  • On Easter Monday 1 Duck Race will be run; the Bradford on Avon Duck Race.
  • The lotteries are authorised by a lottery licence issued by Wiltshire Council.
  • Tickets can only be sold to persons 16 years of age and older.
  • The lotteries are open to all residents of the United Kingdom 16 years of age and over, except officers/members of the Bradford on Avon Town Council
  • All profits from the duck race will be used to improve the Bradford on Avon Christmas lights event.
  • Participation in the duck race  can be made by purchase of a ticket either from Bradford on Avon Town Council or from duck sales outlets in Bradford on Avon.
  • Duck Race ticket numbers will be entered into the race only when the whole payment is received.
  • Bradford on Avon Town Council accepts no responsibility for entries that are illegible to read or from which the prize-winner cannot be identified, or for any technical failure or event which may cause the competition to be disrupted or corrupted.
  • Winning  duck numbers will be the numbers corresponding to the first numbered ducks crossing the finishing line of the duck race held on Easter Monday in Bradford on Avon, as retrieved by event volunteers working at the finish line. If it is impractical to run the race, because of river conditions or any other reason, a members of the public will be asked to select, at random and in a public place, winning numbered ducks from all the ducks that were to participate in the race. Winning numbers will be announced after the race and displayed on the Bradford on Avon Town Council’s website: http://www.bradfordonavontowncouncil.gov.uk. To request a list of winning numbers by post please send a stamped addressed envelope to: Bradford on Avon Town council, St Margaret’s Halls,  St Margaret’s Street, Bradford on Avon, BA15 1DE
  • The result of the race, as declared by the organisers, is final. No correspondence will be entered into.
  • There are no alternatives to non-cash prizes, in whole or in part; non-cash prizes have no redeemable cash value and maybe time limited.
  • Full terms and conditions associated with any non-cash prizes for holidays and short breaks, tickets and spa breaks, will be set out by the donor and received as part of the prize
  • Winners contracts in respect of non-cash prizes are directly with the supplier of the prizes. Bradford on Avon Town Council shall not be liable for any loss or damage whatsoever suffered (including, but not limited to, direct, indirect, and/or consequential loss) or personal injury suffered or sustained in connection with the prizes or any part of them. There may be certain conditions attached to non-cash prizes, for example, age restrictions and/or requirements for certain documentation.
  • Where valid contact information is available, holders of winning duck numbers will be contacted by the organiser to arrange collection of the prizes. Prizes may be collected on the day of the race, by contacting race control and supplying proof of purchase and identification, if required.
  • Where the organiser is unable to contact a prize-winner so that a prize remains unclaimed for six months following the organiser’s first attempt to notify the prize-winner, the organiser may apply the prize as it sees fit, including re-offering the prize in future events, unless the prize is time specific.
  • By claiming and accepting a prize players agree to publicity which will be carried out at the sole discretion of the Bradford on Avon.  All players are required to co-operate with the organiser’s right to publish their win,  as and when deemed appropriate, and to provide proof of age when requested.
  • In the event of an error, howsoever caused, whether a printing error or otherwise and whether obvious or otherwise, which affects the competition in any way, the organisers reserve the right to administer the lottery as though the error had not occurred. Where the organiser deems it appropriate and/or feasible the organiser will notify entrants of the error.
  • Failure to comply with any of these rules may result in the disqualification of an entry in the lottery.
  • The organiser reserves the right to disqualify any entry at their absolute discretion.
